The Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH) is a Health Training Institution, established in 2006 under a public-private partnership arrangement between the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW), now, Ministry of Health (MoH), Novartis Foundation, now Novartis International AG, and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. TTCIH aims to support the Tanzanian Government’s effort to strengthen human resources for health development. The Institution is based in Ifakara, Ifakara Town Council, Tanzania.

Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH) has signed an agreement with United Nations Population Funds(UNFPA) as an implementing partner to implement UNFPA-Funded work plans relating to 2022-2027 United Nations Sustainable Development Framework(UNDCF) for United Republic of Tanzania. TTCIH/UNFPA is seeking a qualified consultancy to conduct an assessment on urban reproductive health services. This consultancy presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to our ongoing efforts to enhance reproductive health services in urban settings.

The assignment will be confined to the following aspects:

  1. Review of documents (national policies, plans, strategies including training materials, SOPs and reports), published and unpublished evidence related to SRH in Tanzania including from Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Unguja.
  2. Determine and apply a set of standards for conducting this kind of assignment to make sure the data included, is applicable to the situation.
  3. Conduct interviews with government officials, partners and relevant NGOs, health facility managers, service providers and other people that are relevant to this assignment.
  4. Conduct focus group discussion with community leaders, community members including men, women and youth groups in the targeted regions.
  5. Conduct physical assessment of selected health facilities and other relevant institutions in Dar-es-salaam, Dodoma, and Unguja.
  6. Present the report to TTCIH, UNFPA and the Task Force for feedback.
  7. Present the report to stakeholders for validation and feedback
  8. Finalize the report and submit to TTCIH and UNFPA
  9. Develop essential service package for the Programme on Urban Reproductive Health Services (PURSE).
  1. Inception report with timelines, budget, and assessment tools
  2. Stakeholders’ validation meeting report summarizing key issues
  3. Assessment report stipulating key findings, gaps, opportunities and recommendations
  4. An abstract and article with evidence-based interventions from the assessment
  5. Proposed service package for Programme on Urban Reproductive Health Services (PURSE)
  6. Presentation for disseminating the findings during the stakeholders meeting
