Dr. Angelo Nyamtema

PI Tanzania

Dr. Angelo Nyamtema is a PhD holder in Safe Motherhood, a senior lecturer at St Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences and Medical Director of St. Francis Referral Hospital, located in Ifakara, Tanzania. He has vast experience in clinical practice, teaching and research in maternal health in low income countries. From 2005 – 2011 he
worked as the Assistant Director and head of the Assistant Medical Officers’ School at TTCIH. In 2009 he developed a competence-based curriculum for comprehensive emergency obstetric care (CEmOC) for associate clinicians. Since then, he has coordinated and facilitated over 9 CEmOC short courses with the financial support of the World Lung Foundation (WLF), UNFPA, Lions Club International, AMREF and Trocaire International (Somalia). Since 2009, Dr. Nyamtema coordinates WLF – Maternal Health Project in
Morogoro region.
